Congress must expand access to services, not cut Medicaid!

Yesterday, disability advocates gathered at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, DC as part of the Disability Policy Seminar to meet with their members of Congress about issues affecting people with disabilities, their families, and the direct care workforce.

Advocates also heard from members of Congress about federal legislation that supports people with disabilities to live in the community. But right now, a bill is moving through Congress that would put people with disabilities at grave risk!

Earlier this week, the U.S. House of Representatives passed a bill that includes radical new work rules for Medicaid enrollees in exchange for lifting the debt ceiling. If passed, this bill would deepen health inequities experienced by people with disabilities.

Please tell your elected officials in Congress to reject any harmful work rules and cuts contained in this bill as they work toward a deal for government funding.

Medicaid and other programs critical to people with disabilities must be supported and expanded, not cut or made harder to access!
