Recreation and guardianship funding from NYSARC Trust Services
The Arc Erie County New York has been awarded $41,247 in grants from the Trustee Management Board of NYSARC Trust Services to support the Chapters guardianship and recreation programs.
NYSARC Trust Services administers supplemental needs trusts (SNT) and pooled trusts that can make dramatic improvements to the lives of people with disabilities by enabling individuals to maintain financial eligibility for Medicaid and other means-tested government benefit programs. For 2024, NYSARC Trust Services is proud to fulfill its commitment to enhancing the lives of people with disabilities by awarding a total of $2,697,508 to The Arc New York Chapters statewide.
This year, The Arc Erie County New York received $28,250 to provide guardianship services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities who would not otherwise have a legal guardian or advocate. Supported by Chapter staff and community volunteers, The Arc Erie County New York’s Guardianship Program currently provides guardianship support and services to 5 people and is ready to assist 2 more as a Standby or Alternate Standby guardian.
NYSARC Trust Services also awarded The Arc Erie County New York $12,997 to support recreational opportunities and enrich the lives of the people it serves. The Arc Erie County New York uses these recreation grant funds annually to hold the End of Summer Picnic each September as well as the Holiday Dance each December. With over 300 people in attendance at each event, these funds are instrumental in providing opportunities for recreation, socialization and tons of fun!
